Getting started

What happens after you click "Open self-serve setup"

Four steps from clicking the button to your first daily briefing across all stores. No POS replacement, no data migration, no IT project.

No credit card required · Read-only sync · No POS replacement

The four steps to your first daily briefing

Here's exactly what happens at each step.

01

Create your account

2 minutes

Register at platform.marql.one. You'll set up your organisation name, time zone, and currency. No credit card required at this stage.

02

Connect your first data source

15–30 minutes

The setup guide walks you through connecting your first integration — typically your POS or your accounting system. For most integrations you'll need a read-only API key or a scheduled export from your system. Your IT contact or accountant can provide this in a few minutes.

Read-only access only. marql never writes back to your systems.

03

Add your remaining integrations

Same day or next day

Once the first source is connected, add the others — POS if you started with accounting, or vice versa. Each additional integration follows the same guided flow. Multi-location chains add all stores from the same POS connection; each location is detected automatically.

04

First briefing appears

Within 24 hours

Once your POS and accounting data is connected, marql runs the first historical sync. Your first daily briefing — revenue, gross margin, and store comparisons. From that point, the briefing updates every morning with the previous day's data.

What access you'll need

For each system you connect, you need read-only access — either an API key or a scheduled export. You don't need to involve your POS vendor or change any settings in your existing systems.

System
Access needed
Who provides it
POS system
Read-only API key or scheduled CSV export
Store manager, IT, or the POS vendor's support team
Accounting / ERP
Read-only API credentials or export access
Your accountant or finance team
E-commerce (if applicable)
Read-only API key
Whoever manages your Shopify / WooCommerce / eMAG account

marql reads data only — no write-back to any system

Your POS and accounting data stay in your existing systems

You can disconnect a source at any time from your account settings

Not sure if your POS or accounting system is supported? See all available integrations. If your system uses CSV exports, that's a supported first connection path — you don't need a live API to get started.

What goes live first

Once your first POS and accounting sources are synced, these views become live:

  • Daily briefing. Yesterday's revenue, gross margin, and anomalies across all locations — delivered every morning.
  • Per-store revenue and margin. Each location separately, with comparison to the chain average and to the same day last week.
  • Anomaly alerts. Stores that underperformed their usual pattern, product categories that dropped out of sales, average transaction shifts.
  • marql AI (included at every price point). Ask about yesterday's revenue, which store led margin, or whether you're on track for the month — answered from your actual data.

For a detailed walkthrough of what the daily view contains, see the dashboards overview. For the full data flow from POS to briefing, follow the data flow.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started with marql

Usually not. For most POS systems, you or your IT contact can generate a read-only API key directly from the POS admin panel. We walk you through the steps for your specific system during setup. If your POS only supports CSV exports, that's a supported first connection path.

If your system supports CSV exports or a REST API, we can connect it — that covers most POS and accounting systems not yet in the native connector list. Contact us via the 20-min walkthrough and we'll confirm the path for your specific stack before you start.

The first sync pulls historical data from your connected systems — typically 90 days back depending on your plan. For most POS systems this takes a few hours. The first daily briefing appears once the sync completes.

Yes. Many operators connect their POS first and add accounting in a second step. You'll get partial views immediately — revenue and transaction data from the POS — and margin data once accounting is connected.

The guided setup includes inline help for each integration step. If you get stuck, you can book a 20-minute stack review and we'll connect your first source together. Most setups don't require this — but it's available.
