marql
Pick-and-mix candy and chocolate, sold by weight

Yammy Way and Pralio ended October with 10% less stock, while selling 27% more.

Tuzeffy's four candy stores sell almost everything by weight. marql counts the trays and the unopened boxes in kilograms against what the till sells, and told a store with half a year of chocolate from one selling through its pick-and-mix in under a month. On 1 November the chain held 99,500 lei less stock at cost than a month before.

Tuzeffy runs four candy stores in Romania under two names, and sells almost everything by weight

Yammy Way sells pick-and-mix candy by the 100 grams from open trays, at ParkLake in Bucharest, in Brașov and in Sibiu; Pralio, in Brașov, does the same with chocolate, nuts and marzipan. Yammy Way started in 2024. In the 30 days to 1 November one line on the till, Yammy Way's pick-and-mix, brought in 56% of the chain's sales: 2,386 kg of candy. marql reads the chain's sales and stock straight from its ERP.

The chain held more than six months of stock, and at Pralio more than half of it was still in unopened boxes

At the start of October the four stores and the warehouse held 984,300 lei of stock at cost, against 147,000 lei of goods sold at cost in the 30 days before. A store that sells by weight keeps its stock in two places: in the trays customers fill their bags from, and in boxes in the back. The till records the trays, one line per price for 100 grams; the boxes arrive under their own names and never appear on a receipt. marql counts both in kilograms against what the till sells. On 1 November, for Pralio's chocolate and nuts:

From the trays alone, they would last 77 days at the pace they sold over the last four weeks.

Counting the boxes still unopened in the back, 172 days: stock bought for half a year ahead.

marql told the store with too much stock from the store about to run short, and gave each its own options

Yammy Way Brașov was at the other end. Its pick-and-mix, trays and boxes together, came to less than a month of what it sold, so holding off on orders would have suited Pralio and emptied Brașov's trays. marql reads which of the two a store's stock is before it lists what to do.

Options
  • Stop reordering boxes for this store
  • Buy no faster than the trays sell
  • A 30–50% markdown on what is two to three months from its best-before date
  • Move it to a store where it sells, or delist it
  • A supplier order before the trays run out
  • Reorder the 39 products ShelfSense lists for the store

The same reading of stock at cost, the four stores and the warehouse together, came to 884,800 lei on 1 November. In the same 30 days the stores sold 844,900 lei on 14,217 receipts, against 667,000 lei on 11,522 in the 30 days before.
